The Command Center

If a user has not been given permission to access a module, the module's button will not appear in the Command Center when that user logs in to EMu.

See Table Access Registry entry for details about how users / groups are given access to modules.

The Command Center is your central point of access to the modules you have been authorized to work with. When you log in to the EMu desktop application, the Command Center displays as a column of buttons.

Note: Only modules you are authorized to access will display in the Command Center. A complete list of EMu modules can be found here.

You can customize the Command Center by adding buttons to Favorites in any order, and by resizing the Command Center.

The Command Center has two sections, Favorites and Modules:

 Contains buttons for all of the modules you are authorized to access (as well as buttons for Help and to Exit).

Favorites

It is possible to add buttons to Favorites, place them in any order, and to remove them from Favorites:

There are several ways to add buttons to Favorites:

  • Drag and drop buttons from Modules to Favorites:
    1. Place the cursor over a button in the Modules section, click and hold the left mouse button.
    2. Drag the cursor to Favorites and release the mouse button.

  • Use the context menu:
    1. Right-click a button in the Modules section.
    2. Select Add to Favorites from the context menu that displays.

  • Use the keyboard shortcut CTRL+Insert when a module button has focus (a green rectangle displays around its edges):

Tip: When a module button has focus, you can use the TAB key to move focus to the next button, and SHIFT+TAB to move focus to the previous button.

There are several ways to remove buttons from Favorites:

  • Use the context menu:
    1. Right-click a button in Favorites.
    2. Select Remove from Favorites from the context menu that displays.

  • Use the keyboard shortcut CTRL+Delete when a module button has focus (a green rectangle displays around its edges):

Tip: When a module button has focus, you can use the TAB key to move focus to the next button, and SHIFT+TAB to move focus to the previous button.

  1. Place the cursor over a button in Favorites, click and hold the left mouse button.
  2. Drag the cursor to the desired position and release the mouse button.

Click the Favorites or Modules section header to collapse / expand the section:

  1. Place the cursor over the top or bottom edge of the Command Center and hold down the left mouse button:

    Resize

  2. Drag the cursor up or down to increase or decrease the height of the Command Center.

A scroll bar will appear on the right side of the Command Center any time that the height of the Command Center is insufficient to display all buttons.

Note: Your customizations are saved and applied every time you log in.

The Command Center context menu can be used to set up Favorites and perform several other tasks. Right-click any button in the Command Center to display the menu:

  1. Right-click a button in the Modules section.
  2. Select Add to Favorites from the menu that displays.

  1. Right-click a button in Favorites.
  2. Select Remove from Favorites from the menu that displays.

Tip: If a module is already open, it is not possible to open another instance of that module by clicking its button in the Command Center. The following method can be used to open another instance of an open module.

To open a module:

  1. Right-click a button.
  2. Select New.

    A list of all modules you are authorized to access will display:

  3. Select any module in the list to open it.

To display the Options box, right-click any button in the Command Center and select Options.
